Background

Ian has spent 30 years in the biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry, as a scientist initially and then operational management. Thirty years is enough. My vegetable plot is a passion, and I’d like to share the experience.

I started the project in the summer of 2014, I completed the City and Guilds Horticulture Diploma (with Distinction) in 2015, time and money well spent. Thank you Alan and the team at Abingdon and Witney College. And I’ve also learnt about outdoor working conditions! And I am still keen.

The kitchen garden fell out of fashion, but now it’s back and there is a new generation of horticulturists applying technology, science and the learning’s from agriculture to ensure home-grown food is exciting, through taste, nutritional value, variety and novelty. It can also be productive and perhaps best of all hugely rewarding. This is part campaign for the cause of home-grown food, part business enterprise and hopefully all a pleasure.
